Just wanted to start my review off with the lady that helped me and spoke to me was super nice. All of my family got Rosa’s and I wanted to go to Doc’s because I had seen people post about this place a few different times. I come from the south and wanted some soul food. I was missing that. I will start with the good. I got the collard greens and they were extremely well flavored and had a great chew to them, but they were lukewarm. They needed a little vinegar or chow chow, but they were good very well flavored. The corn bread was also good. Everything else was a miss. I had high hopes that this food was going to be good. The chicken was dry and old. I’ve never had yams that were dryer and as tasteless as those, I just couldn’t stomach them and I love sweet yams, there was nothing good about these yams. We also got a slice of chocolate cake and it was so dry, we couldn’t eat it. I was very disappointed as I so badly wanted this to be my new place that made me feel like I had a piece of home with me and could come weekly while in town, but it is not and my search for food like my mama would make in the south continues. Highly disappointed would not recommend.

This is a must try place!!? My husband and I are always looking for new places to try and this place will be one we come back to several times!!! They have several choices and what we have tried has been deliciously prepared!! High five to the cook!!? We love it! Please stop by and give a try!

Everyone was so friendly and food was good. Husband has a chicken fried steak loved it. I had the turkey dressing and gravy was a little salty. Dessert was very good! Sides were good mac n cheese broccoli and rice mashed potatoes yams delish.

Amazing food and restaurant is owned by a sweet hard working family. This was my second time here and it was just as good as the first time. Next time I'm in Lubbock I will definitely be back.

What a meal! My son had seen several posts on Facebook so we tried it today. I had liver and onions. Hadn’t had in years so this was a nice treat. Moist, tender with just the right amount of onions and gravy (a lot!!!). The collard’s were tender with ham and smoked sausage. Another welcome treat. Blackeye peas were also tender and flavorful. Cornbread to die for and cake. Really fair prices and great service. Go ahead and purchase the to go boxes because you will need them. We will definitely be back.
